“For Lease.” Seattle, WA. February 2025.

Sometimes you simply can’t help but fall deeply in love with a stunning scene. Late on a chilly February night in Seattle, I unexpectedly stumbled upon this incredible shot in the SoDo neighborhood of Seattle (South of Downtown). The clouds overhead and reflections from the most recent rain created a captivating composition to showcase. Every single time I take out my camera, it reminds me once again why I’m still here.

For me, this “For Lease” sign represents the ever-changing landscape of Seattle. The city is constantly moving, continuously rotating, and frequently replacing its structures and spaces. It is rapidly pushing out the old and emphasizing the new.

The whole Seattle Waterfront is already manifesting that. It’s aimed to reinvent itself with new bridges, newly designed roads, and parklets; the area is almost unrecognizable to when I arrived.

Out with the old, in with the new. I guess we should get over it and get used to it, right?
